Nigerian Fashion Blogger Wumi Tuase Wanderlust

Recently, I have been feeling the need to satisfy my wanderlust, a feeling that has refused to understand the state of my account balance. For as long as I can remember, I have always hated traveling so it is very weird for me to start getting thoughts of being a Wakajube in 2018.

I solely blame this on Cassie & Alex with all their waka-waka everywhere. It has made me realize that I don’t need to hop on a plane before I can satisfy my wanderlust. Fun facts: I have never been on a plane- never been out of the country- never been out of South West region of Nigeria. More like weird fact UGH!

If you are over these facts I just spilled, shall we move on to my plan for the year? Covers Face In Absolute Shame

Somewhere apart from the states I have been. Which isn’t much because I have never felt the need to satisfy my wanderlust, I have never felt the feeling of wanderlust. So save Ekiti (never even been to my hometown), Ondo, Oyo, Ogun and Kwara, I need to find somewhere else to travel to in Nigeria or somewhere not far away. Cassie’s Cotonou trip has got me thinking though. Any other suggestions?

Yes, it may seem like I go out, judging from my instastory posts but I don’t. I attend parties, weddings etc. but I have never gone sight-seeing, well apart from LEKKI CONSERVATION CENTER which I have visited twice without going on the canopy walk rolls eyes. Judging from social media posts of my friends, EPE seems like a pretty cool place to visit so visit I shall… In the name of Jesus LOL.

Again and actually do the canopy walk. It’s going to take some convincing to get oga to drive down there again but I think he’ll love watching me scream in fear SMH. I would probably make it a friends’ affair because there’s no fun being the only scared person around.

Honestly, I always feel pregnant, ask my friend Cynthia. The types of food I crave and when I crave them are usually crazy. Worst part is I never let it go, would totally not rest till I get what I want even fashion items. Part of the reasons why my account is shaking its head at me every day. I started using PIGGY BANK last December and it’s been really helpful. (Hold on, I just saw one cap I’d like to order, be right back guys).

Or else, all the savings might just go into impulsive shopping. I also need to make time because it doesn’t look like I would get a free period this year. With the store going through some changes, does it make sense to actually travel? Or it doesn’t matter? Because I feel travelling educates a person in a certain way that one might not particularly learn from others. Whatever it is, this wanderlust needs to be satisfied and 2018 is the year, can I get an AMEN?

Are you a Wakajube? Or are you like me that’s a newbie? What do you think of my plan, please drop your suggestions too!

Am a newbie like you oh, my female cousins and I are already planning our Ghana trip in October 😁 so that God and the money will know we’re serious. And I went to LCC and the canopy walk is terrifying in a nice way that’s after you’ve lost your voice from screaming. But you can come and be carrying me when you want to go,God helping the account balance

I want to go to Ghana ooo. I will carry you lol. Thanks for reading.

  2. Go for it! I plan to do Cotonou again honestly but budget friendly so it will probably just be a weekend and I’ll couch surf.

Carry me ooo. Just give me a heads up.

  3. Haha, What a fun post. I used to be a wakajube, but recently the bank balance has been saying no. But there was one year where I travelled to Las Vegas twice (I live in London). I have never been to Nigeria so I cannot make any recommendations on that front, but as a Ghanaian woman I would recommend somewhere like Accra or Tema 🙂

I really should plan to go to Ghana. Thanks Madeline, hope you’ll come to Nigeria soon though.

  4. Girl, I am absolute wanna-be Wakajube!
I just need the time and the cash, but I learnt from The Ufuoma that you have to start small, and build up as you go, so I plan on doing just that this year!
The wanderlust in me has taken an even more drastic turn, she wants to come and and playyy so bad.
I did the Canopy walk and girl, you should do it. It was one of the most exhilarating moments of my life! I wish I could reexperience it for the first time.
Wishing you the absolute best in your waka, and please, do not forget to be updating us here oh, thank you!
    Okay, lemme be going

I really enjoy reading your post. We really do not have to be rich to travel and explore. I look forward to travelling across Nigeria this year. I’m saving towards it already.

  6. I love the wakajube life.

It’s awesome checking out new places, seeing new faces, trying out new foods. It’s everything!!!!!. (Till i check my bank account and my bouncing cheques)
    And your plans are amazing.
