As always, I am late in sharing my outfits and moments from the just concluded Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW 2017) but better late than never eh? Let’s just blame it on the stress of having to move back home and resume at work immediately the whole Fashion week events.
If you follow me on Instagram @wumituase, then you would know that I took over Kamdora’s Instagram page to bring street style looks live from the LFDW green carpet and also Made In Nigeria Slayers’ instastory for videos from the runway shows. Long story short, I was super stressed but it was exhilarating. Stressful because I was always late (per usual). This meant that I had to rush to take good pictures for Kamdora’s gram while posing for the paps to take my own pictures. After these, I had to hurry to get in before the runway shows start so I would get all the videos for MIN Slayers’s insta-story.
Exhilarating because I am not one to just sit around and look at everyone while I can also be doing something. I am very restless and I love the whole adrenaline rush that comes with moving around and dropping content just in time. That said, I had a good time at the LFDW, met some amazing people, though some didn’t recognize my face because of the hair. I also had the best crew around me because who attends Fashion Week alone? (Shout out to Nims & Bukky)
Moments from LFDW
I really liked the runway shows and as it was my first time attending a fashion show, I was pretty excited to see the models strut their stuff and the creativity of the designers. Although, I am no expert but while some of the designers really brought it, some pretty much looked boring and lazy. I kept telling my friends “Iya Fatima can make that one na” LOL but Iya Fatima can come through too so I guess she could even do better. Some of my favorite designers were; Titi Belo, Christie Brown, Andrea Iyamah (Bridal Collection), Gert- Johan Coetzee, Re, Sisiano, Dzyn amongst others (Watch all the videos on Kamdora’s Instagram).
Watching the reactions of front-rowers was my second job there. It was so hilarious how they would try to hide a mocking smile, exchange eye-rolls or generally put on a bitch-face and form busy with their phones rather than clap, when they don’t like a show.
The closing performance from Tiwa Savage was also one of my favorite parts and I had to stand up to dance at a point. Oh and we had a dancer from the audience who kept making us laugh during shows with his moves and even came out to give a full performance during a break in the show but sadly, he was eventually bounced from the hall.
Outfits for LFDW
When I decided to attend the Fashion Week, I knew I wanted to wear pieces from Nigerian designers so I reached out to my darling Tosin, who is the brain behind the MIN Slayers page and we decided to collaborate. She came through and so did the designers, major shout out to Tosin! I stuck to my signature two-piece outfits and I cannot wait to re-rock all of them (like I already rocked one here).

I can’t decide which is my favorite outfit, which one is your fave? Did you attend the LFDW, what was your favorite part?
