As always, I am late in sharing my outfits and moments from the just concluded Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW 2017). Let’s blame it on the stress of moving back home and resuming work immediately the Fashion week.

I mentioned on Instagram that I was taking over Kamdora’s Instagram page to bring street style looks live from the LFDW. I also took over Made In Nigeria Slayers’ insta-story to show videos from the runway shows. Long story short, I was super stressed but it was exhilarating.

Stressful because I was always late (per usual). This meant that I had to rush to take good pictures for Kamdora’s gram while posing for the paps to take my own pictures. Then I had to hurry to get in so I would get all the videos for MIN Slayers’s insta-story.

Exhilarating because I am not one to just sit around and look at everyone while I can also be doing something. I am very restless and I love the adrenaline rush that accompanies moving around and dropping content just in time. That said, I had a good time at the LFDW and met some amazing people. Although some didn’t recognize my face because of the hair. I also had the best crew around me because who attends Fashion Week alone? (Shout out to Nims & Bukky)

Moments from LFDW

I really liked the runway shows and as it was my first time attending a fashion show, I was pretty excited to see the models strut their stuff and the creativity of the designers. Although, I am no expert but while some of the designers really brought it, some pretty much looked boring and lazy. I kept telling my friends “Iya Fatima can make that one na” LOL but Iya Fatima can come through too so I guess she could even do better. Some of my favorite designers were; Titi Belo, Christie Brown, Andrea Iyamah (Bridal Collection), Gert- Johan Coetzee, Re, Sisiano, Dzyn amongst others (Watch all the videos on Kamdora’s Instagram).

Watching the reactions of front-rowers was my second job there. It was so hilarious how they would try to hide a mocking smile, exchange eye-rolls or generally put on a bitch-face and form busy with their phones rather than clap, when they don’t like a show.

The closing performance from Tiwa Savage was also one of my favorite parts, I had to stand up to dance. We had a hilarious dancer from the audience. He came out to give a full performance during a break but sadly, he was bounced from the hall.

Outfits for LFDW

When I decided to attend the Fashion Week, I knew I wanted to wear pieces from Nigerian designers. I reached out to my darling Tosin, who is the brain behind the MIN Slayers page and we decided to collaborate. She came through and so did the designers, major shout out to Tosin!. I stuck to my signature two-piece outfits and I cannot wait to re-rock all of them (like I already rocked one here).

  3. I can’t decide my favourite, this iya fatima is not your basic, basic tailor. The outfit she made for you is fit for runway.
I like the day 4 outfit and how the background looks like you are in ‘obodo oyibo’.

    1. With the right amount of fight and pressure, she gets the job done. I really liked the setup for the Day 4 outfit too, LOL @ obodo oyinbo. Thanks girl!

  4. I can’t believe the bounced the dancer, that’s not fair now. After all people like that bring life to places. And Titi Bello was one of my favorite showcases as well as Style Temple. I love your jacket in look one and your overall outfit in look two. The hair was really a showstopping look. Glad you had fun, hope to finally attend one of these days soon.
