I have heard so many “fashionable” people say slim ladies should not wear full vertical stripes as it makes them look thin and lanky, sadly, I used to be of the same notion and I usually stayed away from vertical stripes until I found this jumpsuit.

In one of my early posts on the blog, I wore this striped maxi dress where I had a mixture of both vertical & horizontal stripes for the same fear of looking like a long stick, I’m not ashamed to say that not only was I wrong but I also underestimated the power of trying new things. this jumpsuit from Trumpet Clothing‘s Ready-To-Wear collection, is one that wiped every atom of “vertical stripes are a taboo” from my head or maybe because it is also not a full (up-down) striped piece. This is my first time of wearing a mono strap piece because my mum has never understood the need to cut half of someone’s sleeves away so she didn’t like me wearing it and I am so sure she would send me a funny message when she sees this post on Facebook. The sleeves and pants of the dress got me sold and I love how it makes me look tall, I guess I’m not so skinny after all because I definitely do not look like a stick in this piece. Paired with nude mules and a mini bag for that pop of color you know I always want, I almost wished I was a fan of accessories because a statement necklace would transform this outfit to a more glam look, regardless, this look is one for many events and you wouldn’t feel over-dressed or under-dressed in it.

Lagos had quite the scary weekend with flood in a lot of places, I hope none of you was affected to badly? Let us keep praying and hoping that our government will take this as a wake up call and do better. On the funny side though, island people, how market nah? LOL.

What’s your take on stripes? Are you a fan of mono-straps? I’ve missed your comments, let’s talk! If you have a second (I know you do), please share this post to your friends.

P.S My latest post on Kamdora is a fun look! Check it out here.

  1. Girl I’m loving this look and all these fashion rules about wearing and not wearing that I actually don’t follow it. I just Do me and I’m happy that you decided to do yourself by wearing this beautiful soul of an outfit. You don’t look slim you look bubbly and full of life http://www.adagirl.com.ng

  2. love the jumpsuit and the pop of colour with that bag. i love accessories too but when i wear off-shoulder stuffs and basically anything that shows my shoulder, most times, i don’t wear necklaces or i just keep to a simple choker cos i feel the collar bone is like the ‘bestest’ accessory.
Love how you styled the jumpsuit btw… i really need to get a jumpsuit.

    1. Yes I’m also like that with outfits that leave the shoulders bare, at least I’m not alone in that. You should get one, they’re classic pieces when paired right. Thank you so much dear.

  3. I love how it rests on your body so perfectly and just shows all your curves. It’s definitely a show stopper outfit.
And Abeg, you’re not Slim -_- so go and buy all the horizontals you can find
