When it comes to basic outfits, nothing beats the combination of a top and denim pants, it is easy to wear and very comfortable too so what’s so difficult? Comfort and style though, bridging the gap is sometimes a chore because it is very easy to look drab in a simple outfit like the top and jeans.
Most of my friends say I don’t know how to keep a casual look, well, simply casual because I never dress that simple, there is always something that elevates a casual outfit for me. I quite agree because as much as I like to go the top, jeans and slippers way, I never feel complete without adding character to the whole look, it can be a scarf tied on my neck, or around the handle of my bag, or a hat plopped on my messy hair, or even a dramatic bag, something just has to pop.
I was thinking of how a lot of ladies worry themselves when planning a date night outfit, many of us want to keep it casual and not do too much but still want to look alluring, stylish and comfortable, not to even mention the need to tone down the sexiness of the outfit so the guy does not take that as a come on after the date (which does not even make sense), struggles, struggles UGH! Here is a look that works for me when I don’t have the feel for a dress (since dresses are not even as comfortable as jeans); A simple slightly cropped blouse, ripped denim trouser and two statement pieces that glam up the outfit and make it fit for a number of events/locations. The top has the right amount of casual & sexy while resting on a normal waist fitted easy-rip denim pants (the knee ripped effect is good because more rips might look more casual, check how I styled a more ripped one here,), paired with striped spiked heels and a character bag to elevate it from basic to glam. The right pair of shoes and bag would do the trick on any outfit and nobody has to know that it was a last minute addition to a basic outfit. I got this pair of shoes as a birthday gift from a friend I have never met physically (check out her accessories store here) and this is the first time I am styling it.
